Hi
I have been developing SSRS reports since 2005, and have seen and kept up to date with all the changes. I have pretty much always developed reports in Visual Studio. Now I am woring with paginated reports on the Power BI service, and so have been developing reports with Report Builder. The functionallity in Report Builder is quite frustrating, after working so long writting report in Visual Studio. I have long considered Report Builder a poor alternative to Visual Studio, the only downside ti using Visual Studio, is that you need the extension. It would be really good to have the full functionality of Visual Studio Reporting Service extension with the connectivity to Power BI cloud based datasets, is this possible? Or is it invisaged that an extension will be released to allow this to work?
Any help would be much appretiated

Hi @Anonymous
Power BI Report Builder is optimized for working with RDL Reports in Power BI Service. Currently it doesn't bring all SSRS report functionallities into Power BI Report Builder. Product team keeps on researching and developing new features for paginated reports in Power BI. You can always get the latest announcements of new features from Power BI Blog.
As for now, it is supported to migrate SSRS reports to Power BI. You can refer to Migrate SQL Server Reporting Services reports to Power BI - Power BI | Microsoft Docs. But if you try to upload a report that has an unsupported feature in the Power BI service, you will get an error message. See What paginated report features in SSRS aren't yet supported in Power BI?
You are always welcome to share your ideas and feedbacks about paginated reports and Power BI Report Builder to help improve Power BI. You can submit and upvote ideas at Ideas (powerbi.com) or submit feedbacks in comment area under blogs at Power BI Blog.
Thank you for using Power BI. We all hope to see that it will be improved better in the future.
Best Regards,
