Two years ago, I posted a question asking about the timeline before the GA of developer mode.
https://community.fabric.microsoft.com/t5/Desktop/Developer-Mode-Timeline-before-GA/m-p/3442436
It is now 2025 and still no GA.

... it seems like this team enjoys tormenting us with features they never plan to release. It is a tease. Like buying a bike for your child - six months before Christmas. And then telling them they can't ride it (... but they are allowed to peek at it in the storage closet once each week).
Only with developer mode, it is even worse than that. Because we don't know if there will be a Christmas this year, or the next year, or the year after that.
It seems very wrong for Microsoft to treat their PBI customers like this. Can someone please help me understand what milestones are in front of this, and what is preventing Microsoft from reaching those milestones?
Hi @dbeavon3 ,
I understand your frustration with the uncertainty of when Power BI features will be released. Unfortunately, there is no official estimate of when Developer Mode will be released from the preview. Given the typical lifecycle of Power BI features, it may indeed take some time for Developer Mode to reach GA. You can stay tuned to the developer blog where any new news will be presented.

Hi @Anonymous
Thanks for the link to the blog.
Can you share what milestones might in front of this, and what is preventing Microsoft from reaching those milestones?
I see that the team claims TMDL is in GA (as-of August 2024) but none of the related tooling is GA. I suppose this is yet another way of teasing their customers - by giving us a dinner that is still not fully cooked in the middle.
.. it is crazy that it is taking this long. Customers need to understand what the word "preview" means. Nobody would reasonable expect that to imply three years of waiting!
