Hi everyone,
I'm a bit new to the PowerBI environment and am not sure how I can develop a dashboard locally with a Data Source like an Excel file and then change it's connection to an Oracle database, fo example.
Is this possible? What would be an alternative if not?
Thanks in advance.
Hi @LeoCarvalho,
So, you means that you want get data from excel file which contains with external datasource, right?
If this is a case, it is possible, but you need do some additional operations. You can take a look at below link to know more about get data from excel with external datasource:
Refresh a dataset created from an Excel workbook on a local drive

Hello @Anonymous,
not really. Basically what I want is to develop a dashboard offline, on the Power BI desktop platform (with an Excel File as Data Source). Publish it, and change the connection through the Power BI service to something like an Oracle Database connection.
Is that possible? Obviously considering that both Data Sources are identical in content and format.
