Detecting Relationships Cancel

I am building a new report and loading data for the first time from about 40 different queries with similar column titles. The data loaded without issue, but the program has been stuck on "Detecting Relationsihps" for over an hour. Is there a timeout on this?

I know how to disable this behaviour in the future, but how do I cancel it now? Neither the cancel button nor the x in the box seem to respond. I don't want to force close Power BI because I would likely lose all those queries.

@collinq

This was a useful direction. In the Task Manager, Power BI shows up as several sub processes. So I ended several of them that weren't the main one, which was enough to confuse the relationsihp detector into failing, without crashing the whole thing. Then I was able to save the pbix, edit the preferences to not detect relationships, and then applied the queries with minimal hassle.

Hi @lizzy ,

Check on your Task Manager, is the computer actually actively working with Power BI?  Is your network still on?  Is the data source still on, up and running?

I would appreciate Kudos if my response was helpful. I would also appreciate it if you would Mark this As a Solution if it solved the problem. Thanks!

@lizzy not sure why it is taking so long, I don't see any way to terminate it, just wait.
