Desktop to Service to Desktop

So this may not make much sense but I will try my best to see if I can explain my problem.

I currently am building out a database from an Excel file that we use internally from onedrive. I have been making a powerbi dashboard on the desktop version. I orignally published this to the online version which I'm picking up on forums is refered to bi service I believe. So I publish it to service and then after some time I want to update somethings, specifically the Q&A feature. I want to train my Q&A feature to understand certain names within the data tables and relationships. From my understanding is I need to make these updates on the desktop version which is creating some complexities becasue then I have to reupload my dashboard again and its making me rename it and make a new version of the dashboard online. Basically, I just want to hear what you guys think is the best way to have a powerbi dashboard that I share within my organization and that I can update the Q&A feature. I don't know if that makes sense.

    Hi nicclifford4 ,
According to your description, you want to add a Q&A feature to your original report. The method you mentioned is to create a Q&A feature on power bi desktop and then republish it, which is indeed the way to go, but it should be noted that after adding it, save and upload it to the same workspace and then choose to overwrite the original file. Also note that you need to configure a timed refresh so that the data in the report is updated even though.
The second way is that you can go to your report on the power bi service, select the edit screen and you will see the Q&A function option on the side toolbar where you can also create a Q&A function and save it.

For Direct Query and live connection connection mode, you need to turn on the Q&A option in the dataset settings.
The shared dashboard you mentioned does keep visualization up to date and you can also create an app to keep others up to date.
Explore and create visuals in your reports using Power BI Q&A - Power BI | Microsoft Learn
Publish an app in Power BI - Power BI | Microsoft Learn
    replace sematic model

    Best regards,
    Albert He
