Defected function of Button Slicer, anomaly detection, context filters on Windows on ARM
Hi ,
I recently encountered functionality issues while using Power BI Desktop (Microsoft Store version) downloaded via the Microsoft Store. I understand that Windows on Arm (WOA) is a relatively new platform, but the reality does not align with claims that Power BI fully supports or is well-adapted to WOA systems.
To address the problem, I uninstalled the Store version and reinstalled Power BI using the standalone installer from the official Power BI website. Unfortunately, issues doesn't resolve and the results were disappointing:
Poor Performance: The application remains noticeably laggy and unresponsive.
Excessive Hardware Demands: Running Power BI causes abnormally high CPU/memory load and significantly shortens battery life.
Contradicts WOA’s Core Value: This completely undermines the key advantages of choosing a WOA device—high efficiency, low power consumption, and extended battery life. The current experience nullifies these benefits.
I hope it can pass to the related Microsoft Team to prioritize resolving these compatibility and performance optimization issues for Power BI Desktop on the Windows on Arm platform. The current state severely compromises the feasibility of using Power BI for data analysis and work on WOA devices.
My device: Microsoft surface laptop 7th 13.8-inch.
Software version: the latest Microsoft store version(2.145.1262.0 64-bit (July 2025)).
Defected function 1: no option for selecting the latest start of month, count or else.
Defected funtion 2: Anomaly detection failed to analysis, but it can works in window system.

Defected function 3: Data field can be add into Labal Field and image Field in the format visual setting of Button Slicer.

Please check below things.
1. Button Slicer is currently in preview state and missing options like “latest start of month” or “count” are part of the incomplete features. Formatting bugs like label text colors, hover states and image field bindings are widely reported, these bugs are not yet resolved and effect both Microsoft store and standalone versions of Power BI Desktop.
2. Anomaly detection works on x86 systems but fails on ARM devices. This is due to emulation limitations or unsupported dependencies, the visuals like anomaly detection and slicers often fail with “Error fetching data for this visual” on ARM devices.
3. visuals go black or fail to render when slicers are applied on ARM systems. The issue is not present on x86 machines, a compatibility gap in the ARM emulation layer.
4. Try to Roll back to an earlier versions where slicers and visuals were more stable on ARM. And Use Performance Analyzer to identify bottlenecks and rendering failures. Use Power BI Service for report consumption, which performs better on ARM devices.
5. As of July 2025, Power BI Desktop does not officially support ARM64. It runs in x64 emulation mode, which introduces performance and compatibility issues. The July 2025 Feature Summary does not mention ARM improvements, indicating that full support is still pending.
