Hi , basically this question is do I expose the fact table columsn to be used in reports - the general advice is hideteh fact table?
ID | Date Completed | Date Arrived | Quantity | Business Key |
1 | 31/01/2000 | 01/01/2000 | 6 | A |
2 | 28/01/2000 | 03/01/2000 | 7 | B |
3 | 14/01/2000 | 04/01/2000 | 8 | C |
4 | 09/01/2000 | 01/02/2000 | 9 | D |
I have relationships to the two date columns to a date table.
Say if I wanted a list of those arriving in Feb I simply want the line four in table visual.
If i have hidden the fact table - how do I get these columns , I cant use related to the calendar, because it has more than one relationship?
So should i just be using the fact table date columns? How woudl i do this if I was using an integer date key?
Similarly I have a business key - which isnt in any dimension?
Hope you understand the question. Any reading on this subject would be most welcome. Thanks
@Anonymous , Not very clear. for two dates, one active and one inactive you can use userelationship to enable
Hi , i just want to know if I should use the columns in the fact table for the colums in my visual table, as one one the dates is connected via a inactive relationship.
I know how to use userelationship.
Using the fact column goes against the general advice of hiding the fact table? Thanks
@Anonymous , We should hide keys from the fact not all columns. I really not sure why you want to hide the complete fact. In any case, a measure/ column used in visual should continue to work
Thanks Amit in this case the dates are the FKS? What if they were integers FKS to a date table - how would I then get the multiple dates on an inactive relationships into a table visual?
