Date slicer allows invalid dates

So I haven't seen a proper solution to this yet. Is there anyway to fix this problem?

As you can see, the date range is 10 years before and 10 years after the selected date (it should only show 2001 to 2020). Anyone know what is going on (seems like a bug).

Please help.

Yes, the date slicer shows years that are not in your date columns, prior and after, but if you select a year, it is never going to take it to the slicer, it will always take the minimum date/year from the available dates.

You can submit an idea on this at: https://ideas.powerbi.com/ideas/
