Date format in Direct Query not working

Hi,

I am using a direct query setup to make my dashboard and the date in the SQL table is in the format "dd-mm-yy" (example: 25-01-23).

I changed the date format in the front end of Power BI Desktop as shown below (snippet 1) and then load the column in a table. However, I am getting a "out of range" error (snippet 2). Can anyone please help.

Please note that the exact same process works when using import mode (without using Power Query).
