Date column issue

Hello experts,

I imported data from the database. there is a column date which is the completion time, the data type is Date/Time in the power query.

when importing data to Power BI, the column is to activate for a date, also there is no icon shown in the date.

See the attached photo for a date in power query & power bi

Need help. Thank you.

  • Is your table related to any other table based on the date column ?

If yes, the many side of the one-to-many relationship will lose the date hierarchy, while one side will retain the hierarchy. https://community.fabric.microsoft.com/t5/Community-Blog/Why-there-is-no-date-hierarchy/ba-p/2266682

When the below conditions are met, the date hierarchy will work for you

    • Enable automatic date and time
    • The table storage mode is Import
    • The column data type is date or date/time
    • The column isn't the "many" side of a model relationship

AmiraBedh and Thejeswar, Thanks for your contribution on this thread.

        Hi manah77g ,

Based on your description, it seems like there is something wrong with your date column displaying. And AmiraBedh and Thejeswar give corresponding explanations. Could you please elaborate on the specific challenges you are facing with this date column? Additionally, could you share the desired outcome you’re aiming for? Once we have a clear understanding, we can explore potential solutions or alternatives to address your needs. Thank you.

        Best Regards

  • Hi manah77g ,

As told by AmiraBedh , this also could be the result of a relationship being built on top of this column

If that is not working, then something is not right with your date column. Usually when a Column with Datetime is marked as Date/Time it gets transformed to Datetime format. And a column with AM/PM info in it will usually be a Text Column. See screenshot below

In your case, I am not seeing the data getting converted to datetime values

    Regards,
