This seems like one of those things that might just be the way it is, but it isn't a great user experience. I wanted to run it by this group to see if I'm missing something as the client is asking for this.
I'm using a date slicer set to "between" on a table of transaction data. The default setting of the min/max dates in the slicer use the absolute minimum and maximum dates in the transactional table regardless of any filters that are active.
If I use the "list" option on the slicer it lists only the relevant dates that do have data present given the current filters.
Can I get the "between" option to include only the min/max dates that actually have data?
I've pasted in a couple of images below. The data in question starts on May 8, 2022 given the filters in place.
Slicer using BETWEEN:
The same exact Slicer using LIST:
I think the easiest way to do this is to use a measure for your data. One example would be if you started taking orders in May 2022 and you have dates before orders, sum up your orders in a measure and then use a visual level filter on the slicer to only show days where "Total Orders" (or whatever measure you use) > 0
Thanks for the suggestion. I had tried using a filter, but I tried more specifically trying one that was "punches>0" - that does not change the behavior.
