Date Priority

Hi everyone,

I'm having trouble getting Power BI to recognize the year of the date as requiring higher priority than the month.

Currently, when ordering dates from past to present, it will order them as:

Jan 2016, Jan 2017, Jan 2018, Feb 2016, Feb 2017, Feb 2018, Mar 2016, Mar 2017, Mar 2018, etc.

Instead, I want it to order them as:

Jan 2016, Feb 2016, Mar 2016, . . . , Dec 2016, Jan 2017, Feb 2017, Mar 2017, etc.

As a result, the Rolling 12 Month Sum graph I made with dates on the x axis is off. Thanks in advance for the help.

you need to add another column in your model to sort your month columns

Add another columns like

Month Sort = FORMAT( DimDate[Date], "YYYY-MM")

and in modellig tab chooise your month column and in sort by column from the menu choose, Month Sort columns which you just created.

Let me know if you need further assistance.
