Date Change from Sharepoint to Power BI

I've seen similar posts about dates being changed from Sharepoint to Power BI but I haven't seen dates being pushed forward like what is happening to me. I have a table of IT Tickets on Power BI desktop that is pulled from an online Sharepoint list, and the "Date Resolved" column is showing up as a consistent +7 hours forward in time, e.g. 5:00pm on Sharepoint -> 12:00am next day on Power BI. I am in the Eastern time zone if that helps to debug.

This issue is affecting every ticket and makes for inaccurate dashboard analytics.

Your help is much appreciated.

Thanks,

Pierre

Hi @peid

It sounds as if the settings in Sharepoint itself and possibly in Power BI are causing these complications.

You can do a few things:

  1. Check the time zone settings in Power BI and also in Sharepoint.

    • In Desktop, go to File, Options and Settings, Options. Check the "Regional Settings" and ensure it's set to the correct time zone.
    • In SharePoint, I believe you need to go to where the list is located and then Site Settings then Regional Settings, to confirm the time zone.

  2. If the above is okay, then you may need to adjust the TimeZone manually.  If so, in Power Query, you can adjust by going to the "Add Column" tab in the ribbon, adding a Custom Column and then using the following

    Custom Column = "Your DateTime Column" - #duration ( 0 , 7 , 0 , 0 )
  3. If you want to do a calculated column in DAX then you can use the following:

    Calculated Column = Table[DateTime] - TIME (  7, 0 , 0 )

Hope this helps mate.

Theo
