Datasets and Gateways

Hi

I cannot get my dataset to work via a Gateway.

Installed a test gateway on my laptop however Power BI (web) cannot make use of it?

Couldn't load the schema for the database model

There was a data source access error. Please contact the gateway administrator.

Is there some more detailed error message / log somewhere that I can inspect.

Gateway says "Online: You are good to go."

Datasource says "Connection Successful." <- setup to a local SSAS instance and SSAS database.

Also what I noticed is that in my datasets there is no option 'SCHEDULE REFRESH" that allows me to select and setup the gateway properties. is there currently a limitation in Power BI that does not allow data sources to be setup to connect to a specific gateway?

      Hi iansa,

Do you connect to SQL Server Analysis Services(SSAS) directly from Power BI Service or firstly connect to SSAS from Power BI Desktop and then publish the dataset to Power BI Service? Also we need to know if you connect to SSAS tabular database or SSAS Multidimensional database from Power BI.

I suspect that you connect to SSAS data source via live connection from Power BI, in this case, there is no “Schedule refresh” option, you will get the following notification indicates that the dataset is always up-to-date.

In addition, which step do you get the above error message? If you get the error when viewing report in Power BI Service, please check that if the email address that you sign into Power BI service matches the defined UPN within the local Active Directory Domain. For more details, please review this article.

      Thanks,
