Hello team, to start with appreciate your assistance. I will greatly appreciate any pointers.
I don't see 'Dataflows' option within the 'get data' section on my power bi desktop. All i see is "Power BI dataflow (Legacy)"
I updated to the latest version, I've uninstalled and re-installed the power bi desktop but still no luck.
Hi all,
Did you find what was causing the issue?
Thank you in advance,
Eleftheria
Hi,
We have had a similar problem. It was caused by a file missing in the user's Local AppData folder:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Power BI Desktop\CertifiedExtensions\PowerPlatformDataflows.pqx
We copied the file from another user's computer and it fixed the issue.
Some new learnings - This is a problem on power bi desktop on a VDI machine. I got the folks to install power BI desktop on a new VDI machine and its still the same problem. This makes me think if this has something to do with the VDI?
I am able to install the same version on a regular computer and I do see power platform connectors.
Hi @msLerner ,
Thanks for your feedback. According to your description, the dataflow connector can't be found when Power BI Desktop be installed in VDI machine. What's the version of your Power BI Desktop? If you are using an older version of Power BI Desktop that does not support the dataflow connector, please try to update the version of your Power BI Desktop to the latest one. There are two approaches for getting Power BI Desktop, you can choose any one of them:
Best Regards
Appreciate your help Adescrit.
I've tried both direct query and import mode's in the past and irrespective of creating a new project or open an existing pbix I cant seem to find the nonlegacy dataflow option.
This has now become a problem because I am trying to load a pre-built pbix file that consumes a powerPlatform dataflow and my power bi desktop doesn't seem to recognize it.
Hi @msLerner ,
Do you already have data loaded into your pbix file from another source? If so what connection type did you use for the other data source - direct query or import?
If you do already have another data source connected within this pbix model, try opening a new, blank file and attempting to locate the dataflow connector before connecting to any other sources.
