Dataflow with incremental refresh- which change will reset the incremental refresh ?

Hi guys,

I don't get all the behaviours of dataflow with incremental refresh. Precisely, I would like to know in which case of change on the dataflow that I will lose all the historic data.

Actually, I had 2 situations :

- 1st : I have applied changes on the table A (the incremental refresh is applied on it) of the dataflow. On the next day, I have noticed that all data stored have been lost. I have concluded that changes resets the incremental refresh.

2nd : I have built the same table (let's call it table B)  by choosing "reference" and not "duplicated", disabled the "enable load" of the origin table (A) and applied the incremental refresh on the table B.

I have noticed that I didn't lose data at all and the incremental refresh still works and it have added new lines.

As I think that the incremental refresh on the Dataflow is very sensible, a simple small change on the table (name change, type change, column deleted, etc) could break it. So I would like to know your opinion and if you tell me in which case of changes, the incremental refresh could be broken/reset ?

Thank you in advance !

"disable load" will be ignored if the table is required as part of the lineage.

Yes, any meta data change on your table's query will result in the reset of the incremental refresh.
