Hi all,
I have a data set from a Postgre SQL in Direct Query Mode. In the Query Editor de format of the date column is shwon properly:
But when I go to the Power Bi desktop, it is no recognising the data type, so I cannot represent properly the data nor create any hierarchy
Furthermore, many actions are not allowed in Direct Query mode, and I cannot change into Import mode, since there is many data to load.
Any suggestion? I would say this is a Microsoft Error?
Many thanks ina advance,
Marina Maqueda
Have you found a solution to this? Struggling with the same issue.
Hi @Anonymous ,
Not all Date fields automatically have the hierachy option. You can confirm that it is recognising the data type in report view by clicking on the column and viewing the data type under column tools.
Please refer to this Community Blog post that details your situation: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Community-Blog/Why-there-is-no-date-hierarchy/ba-p/2266682#:~:text=First%20of%20all%2C%20we%20need,automatic%20date%20and%20time%20feature.&text=If%20you%20have%20not%20enabled,Global%20or%20Current%20File%20page.
Hi, the problem is not the hierarchy (I could manage the report without that option), the problem is that in the Query Editor the field is a Date type, but in Power BI not, and I need it to be recognised as date in Power BI desktop so I can create the graphs properly. Once I get the solution about the Date format recognition, then I could start fighting the Hierarchy one 🙂
Many thanks anyway,
