Data label merge with bar graph.

Hello,
I have set Y axis Start and End as auto, as graph is dynamic.
Also I have set, data label position as "Outside End", then also my data label is somewhat merge with my bar graph.
How can I avoid this ? I want data labels to be on top and not to merge with any bar graph.

  • Unfortunatly, I don't really think there's a sure-fire way to make them not merge.

You can turn on the background for one of the data points so that you can tell the difference, or you can format the data labels for the line value to go under the line.

Just go to the formatting for the data labels and scroll down, to turn on the customize series option. You should then get a drop down box for the two differnt data points in the visual and you can edit them individually.

Thanks for your reply, I tried to customized data label individually. But it also didn’t work.

Adding border make more issue, as it will hide the data label of line graph. Please see 2nd graph.

I'm sorry it didn't work for you . I 've never had the data label merge with the bar like on your first graph.  Although, I think  the second graph could still be fixed if you put the line graph data label below the line.   Also anothe rthing to try, Have you aligned the zero's for either of these graphs? That's in the Y-axis formatting, turn show secondary on (it might be on by default) but then you'll have an option to align zeros. I'd give it a try :)
