Data format doesn't presist from direct query
In Jun21 update, the following news sounds like an exciting news.

"Format strings now persisted when using DirectQuery for Power BI datasets and Azure Analysis Services
We’ve heard from many of you that it’s useful to have properties set on a remote model you’ve connected to flow through to your local model. In this release, format strings are the latest property that will flow from your remote source to your local one."
However, I still encounter problem, where remote source dataset has set a column as whole number with thousand seperator, but in the direct query dataset, it turns back to whole number WITHOUT thousand seperator.
If i changed the column in deirect query dataset to be with thousand seperator, it went back to the number WITHOUT seperator every time I refresh the direct query dataset.
I am kind of wander if there is a option to select presist or not presist. In my case, it seem in the direct query dataset, it clears out any formtat if it is different to remote dataset and leave it as blank. It is a bug!
Anyone has this issue as well?

Hi gavin007 ,
Hello, for the latest features updated every month. Opening Powerbi Desktop will not enable this option by default. We need to manually choose to enable it before it can be applied.

Hope to help you solve the problem.

i did tick this in both remote source report and the DQ report.
It worth mentioning that the meansure is created in the remote source report level and the format is correct. when it is used as live connection with other import data (composite model), the format of the measure is totally lost.
Becasue it is composite model, it allows me to change the data format, but soon i refresh the data, it goes back to blank format.
Someone suggests that I should create measure in the live connection report but given the measure is widely used in the other reports, it is not a good workaround.

I also found out that the measure in live connection mode is presisted. but when it convert to composite model, the format field is blank and default to decimal point instead of %.
Interestingly, not all measure has this problem.
Something wrong with compositie model.
