Data Modeling for Q&A visual for an encyclopedia-like experience

How would you model this data to allow for an encyclopedia-like experience using the Q&A visual?  For now, the plan is to store the data in Excel, import into Power BI, and refresh it on an as-needed basis.

Desired user experience includes:

  • If user types... What is Salmon, then Q&A returns the definition.
  • If user types… Show me Proteins, then Q&A results would list those 2 items (i.e. Salmon, Chicken Nuggets)
  • If user types… What to eat weekly, then Q&A results would list Salmon, Pasta, Broccoli
  • If user types… Honeycrisp, then Q&A results would show Apple's definition, because Honeycrisp needs to be setup as a keyword/synonym for apple.

For the purpose of this forum, I've swapped out my business terms with silly examples of foods, so this challenge is easy to understand.

To be clear, there are no other data sources involved in this dataset. Meaning, this entire report is dedicated to act like an encyclopia for business terminology, definitions, related info.

    Hi jshutters ,

Based on your descriptions, I think you could modify your question a little. If it can understand your question, the right outcome will appear. I did a test. Please check the results as follows.

You can also add definitions to make Q&A work better with your data model with "Teach Q&A" in Q&A Setup.

For more learning, please refer to the following links.

    Q&A updates

Power BI Desktop Update - October 2019 - YouTube   (from 5:00)

Hope that's what you were looking for.

    Best Regards,
