Data Hierarchy Use
Hello all,
I cannot for the life of me figure out why I'd use a data hierarchy. Anyone want to volunteer a use case where it helped them out?
I have a lot of nice hierarchies--and I'd love to have slicers move from top to bottom for example within a selection hierarchy, but that doesn't seem to be a use case.
I love the fact that visuals (bar charts for example) have drill down hierarchies, but that already seems to work fine.
So I'm scratching my head and thought I'd ask what I hope is a fun and easy question.

There is a very good discussion around data hierarchies here:
Bottom line is that it is currently a report authoring aid so that you do not have to recreate the hierarchy for each visual. This follows the MVP model that the Power BI team uses. Read the last post, they have more plans around data hierarchies in future releases but right now it is probably best summed up as a report authoring convenience.
