Hello (New here)
I am new to using power BI and am having some trouble with my data formatting.
Example of current data set
Currently when Import the data into power BI it looks like this (photo below)
I would like to make it so when I make a graph and slicer I can select a year and a month in that year and it will display the total and which category that total is from.
Example (group Jan Feb ECT from 06 into '2006')

If I understand your request, I think the first step you need to do is unpivot your columns to go from a view like this:
to this:
then you can rename the Attibute column as Month and use it as a filter. Also from there you add columns or format the Month column to fit the date structure you need.
