Data Connections Cockpit Cubeware

Hi guys!

I am currently trying to create a report from data that is mainly available via custom reports in a tool called Cockpit (from Cubeware). Cockpit creates reports via SQL codes from databases like Oracle that are then viewable as well as ready for download via excel. Do you know if I can directly connect to Cockpit and use these reports. Or do I have to connect to the databases where the data comes from (in this case for instance Oracle).

Thanks for any help!

BR Beat

Hi @Beat77 ,

Currently, Power BI does not support direct connection to Cockpit.

Power BI Desktop supports connecting to the Oracle database.

This allows you to create reports by fetching data directly from the Oracle database.

Please refer to the following links for detailed information.

Microsoft Power BI Desktop (oracle.com)

Hi @ Beat77,

You mentioned that reports can be exported to Excel in Cockpit, and Power BI supports getting data from Excel.

Therefore, you can use the Excel export from Cockpit as a data source for Power BI to create reports in Power BI.

Quickstart: Connect to data in Power BI Desktop - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

Power BI also supports connecting to Oracle databases.

Therefore, you can connect Power BI Desktop directly to your Oracle database to create reports.

Hi Denglian!

You are right, I know that I could connect to either Excel or Oracle. Excel is no option as we are talking about "live" data - so downloading the report every let's say month and then do the Power BI reporting is no option. Oracle would make sense but I would have to recreate the report from Cockpit in Oracle. So before doing that I wanted to know if I can't connect to Cockpit directly. The reports in cockpit have an SQL query behind them which simply gets data from databases like Oracle. But I never heard of an Oracle data connection in Power BI. Thats why I posted this question.

Thanks and BR

Thank you, yes, I think I have to go the Oracle way 😄
