Dashboard experts needed for an interview study

Hi,

I am a PhD student at The University of Manchester. I would like to invite you to participate in a study we’re conducting at The Department of Computer Science. If you have worked on designing, or developing information dashboards or visualisations for dashboards, then you can help us. We are trying to understand practices around building information dashboards in order to make them simpler and more effective.

This will be an audio-recorded interview where we’ll discuss your experience working on dashboards. The topics will be about dashboard interaction and information presentation challenges, adaptations, and dashboard development methodology.

  • Where? Online (Zoom)
  • How long? Around 45 minutes.
  • Compensation? Yes! You'll be compensated for your valuable time.

Your experience is very valuable to us and can enhance our understanding and enrich our knowledge.

For more information or if you'd like to participate, please drop me a line at mohammed.alhamadi@manchester.ac.uk. Also if you know someone else who has experience, please share this with them.

Thank you.

Not sure if you are aware but "dashboard" has a very specific meaning in Power BI.  Dashboards are collections of tiles that come from either report visuals or report pages.  These tiles are not overly interactive, the only things they allow is for the user to consume them passively (eg looking at a hallway monitor showing call center performance metrics) or to click on the tile and be taken to the underlying report for actual interaction with the data. As such, dashboards are a very tiny part of the Power BI ecosystem.

Maybe you can clarify the scope a bit.

@lbendlin  I had interaction with him. He is asking from more operational point of view than a technical point of view. The interview is about to understand real-world scenarios on how the dashboard evolves. Who all participates in the development phase and what happens through the development phase until deployment and later usage. Cheers!

"The interview is about to understand real-world scenarios on how the dashboard evolves"

I very much doubt that. I think what they are really interested in is the entire cycle from development to deployment to insights to redevelopment etc of the full solution, including the data sources, the pbix, the service setup, user access control etc.  "Dashboards"  have very little to do with that.
