DAX - circular dependency

Hi,

 

I keep running into: A circular dependency was detected: Consumer[Companyname], Consumer[Companynameknown], Consumer[Companyname].

 

Here is a simplified view of the tables used (with the Companynameknown as desired column).

 

Companytable:

CompanyName

Where in the Consumer table:

Companyname = LOOKUPVALUE(Companytable[CompanyName],Company[companyID],[companyid])

 

I tried to get the Companynameknown based upon the content of the Consumer[companyname] column ->

Companynameknown= if(Consumer[Companyname]<>blank(),"yes","no").

Based upon articles in the forum I tried to achieve this with e.g. measures, with allselected, etc. etc. but keep running into the same error message. For me it is not an option to remove the relationship between the tables.

 

All suggestions are welcome!

    Hi Anonymous ,

     

    Since you have established a relationship between Consumer table and Companytable, please try using the RELATED function.

     

    Companyname = 
RELATED ( Companytable[CompanyName] )
    Companynameknown = 
IF ( [Companyname] = BLANK (), "yes", "no" )

     

    If the problem is still not resolved, please provide detailed error information or the expected result you expect. Let me know immediately, looking forward to your reply.

    Anonymous , if Companyname is in Consumer table as column

    this should work as a new column

     

    Companynameknown= if(isblank(Consumer[Companyname]),"yes","no")
