Customer dashboard view

Im a beginner power BI user and am looking to use this platform to create a dashboard for my customers. Pardon my questions:

1) Will my customers need to have a power BI pro account to view my dashboards? Or will a power BI free suffice? Thanks!

2) After publishing my dashboard and sharing it with my customer, do they have the ability to edit it (hopefully not)?

Welcome to the community!

For question 1) No, they don't need as long as your report is hosted on a Premium account/workspace and have read access to it.

Question 2) No, they don't have the ability, unless you specifically grant it (and they would need a Pro license as well)

Hi @mit1

That depends on whether your customers also have Power BI Pro licenses or not. If they do, you can share your dashboards and reports with them via email or link . If they don’t, you have a few options:

1) You can upgrade to a Power BI Premium capacity, which allows you to share your content with anyone, regardless of their license type.

2) You can publish your reports to the web, which generates a public URL that anyone can access. However, this option is not secure and exposes your data to anyone on the internet.

Best Regards,

Jayleny

Hi Ray, thank you for your reply!

Expanding on 1) Will my customers be able to see my dashboards if I only have a Pro account (non-premium)?

Reference question: 1) Will my customers need to have a power BI pro account to view my dashboards? Or will a power BI free suffice?
