Custom column when data fields are used differently
Hey there,
We have 2 vendors who managed cases in our tool. Vendor A actively uses a " case completed" field that indicated weather a case was completed or not ("yes": completed, "no": not completed). Vendor B does not use this field.
Can I create a custom column that pull data like this?:
If a case is owned by vendor A then only count the cases if the "case completed: field equals "yes"
If a case is created by vendor B then count the cases no matter what this field equals ("yes" and "no")
Thanks so much!

gittelena Probably with an IF statement or SWITCH statement. Not really enough information to go on, please first check if your issue is a common issue listed here: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Community-Blog/Before-You-Post-Read-This/ba-p/1116882

The most important parts are:
1. Sample data as text, use the table tool in the editing bar
2. Expected output from sample data
3. Explanation in words of how to get from 1. to 2. - amitchandakSuper User
gittelena , My advice would be to add a new column like this, in the table and then you have same status every where
new status =
switch( True(),
[status] in {"case completed","Yes"}, "Yes",
[status] in {"not completed","Yes"}, "No",
"No"

Hi gittelena ,
Not certain what is your expected output, if you want to filter some specific data, maybe create a filter table like this:
Table 2 = FILTER( ALL('Table'), ('Table'[Vendors] = "Vendor A" && 'Table'[case completed] = "yes") || 'Table'[Vendors] = "Vendor B" )Then create measure to count cases of each vendors.
You can share your expected output and sample data for further discussion.
