Dear all,
I have this data below, shown in the picture. The original data is from columns [parent] and [child]. I created [Contas] using PATH([child];[parent]), but I have another fact table that this PATH is in a different format, which I tried to recreate in [Contas (Planilhas)] using the formula below:
Contas (Planilhas) = IF([Length]=12;MID([Contas];1;1); IF([Length]=25;MID([Contas];1;1) & "|" & MID([Contas];15;1); IF([Length]=38;MID([Contas];1;1) & "|" & MID([Contas];15;1) & "|" & MID([Contas];29;2); IF([Length]=51;MID([Contas];1;1) & "|" & MID([Contas];15;1) & "|" & MID([Contas];29;2) & "|" & MID([Contas];44;2); IF([Length]=64;MID([Contas];1;1) & "|" & MID([Contas];15;1) & "|" & MID([Contas];29;2) & "|" & MID([Contas];44;2) & "|" & MID([Contas];59;2); IF([Length]=77;MID([Contas];1;1) & "|" & MID([Contas];15;1) & "|" & MID([Contas];29;2) & "|" & MID([Contas];44;2) & "|" & MID([Contas];59;2) & "|" & MID([Contas];74;2); "fazer"))))))
However, when I try to add the relatioship to the other table, I get an error saying I have a "Circular Dependency" from this table.
Any sugestions on how I could get this changed column in a better and smarter way, and why this is a Circular depent formula?
Thank you,
Eduardo

Hi @Anonymous
You may have a look at this article to understand circular dependency. This article is about avoiding circular dependency. For your case,i would suggest you create measures or create the column in query editor to avoid circular dependency. If you need further help, please share the .pbix file and explain more about your expected output. You can upload it to OneDrive and post the link here. Do mask sensitive data before uploading.

Thank you. I was able to create what I needed from the Query Editor, and then used PATH functions / relationships successfully.
