Custom Slicer for PII
Hello - I'm struggling to create a custom slicer for a data set containing Personal Information.
As an example, the columns are like the ones below
| Name | Address | PostCode | DateOfBirth | Telno | |
| John | 123 XYZ Road | AB12 2NH | 16-12-1977 | 01231 232434 | [email protected] |
| Claire | 678 HJG Avenue | 28-06-1992 | 07123 787676 | [email protected] | |
| Ashrak | Flat 12, The Street | CM99 9TH | 01-03-2001 | [email protected] |
Effectively, I want to be able to create slicers out of the headings so I can see all the names that I have - for instance - a postcode, telno and email for. Or, I can search for all names where I don't have a postcode or telno. In all I have 16 columns of PII that I need to be able to analyse. Are slicers the answer?

To solve this problem, I recommend you to use field parameter. Because you have 16 columns, sometimes you don't need to display so many columns at once, and the field parameter can help you filter the fields.
Step1:
First, we go to Modeling and click on new parameter. Then we select Fields.
Now, simply select any fields you would like to include from the table.

Step2:
Now, we go to the Report page and select any elements you wish to search.
Below is an example.
Step3:
To search for any names where there is no postcode or telno, we can use Q&A.
Go to Q&A setup, and click on Teach Q&A.
If you want to search for any customer who leaves telno blank, enter a question like “telno blank” and it will show the result at bottom right.

No need for slicers. Use the standard functionality of the filter pane - "filters on this visual".
Many thanks for your reply. I'll have a look at the filters. As this report is going to be presented to C-level I was hoping to have as much automation in the report as possible on the assumption that consumers of the report are not familiar with Power BI
