Creating new table with top 100 values of data

Hi everyone,

I looked through the forum but I could not find a similar question and a solution. My question is this;

I have a table with a heavy load of data and the column of interest is % of Grand Total. So I need to create another table, reading the data from previous one and only bring the top values which add up to 80% of the Grand Total.

It is really easy to do in Excel, but I could not find a way to do it in Power BI.

Thank you in advance,

Kind Regards

    Hi yucelilayda

If you want to keep the original table also :

Right click the original table Table1, and select Reference, This will create a new query in Power Query . Click the header of the column you want to filter and apply the filter as needed. ( for e: total > 0.8) .

When you do this way, this will not double query the source.

If you dont want the original table in the model:

Copy the original table and create a new queryClick the header of the column you want to filter and apply the filter as needed. ( for e: total > 0.8) .

Then right click the original query, unselect " include in report refresh" option. This way the original full table qont get included n the model.

    Thanks
    Raj

    Hi yucelilayda

Do you mean the new table should filter top 100  values and  the column of interest is 80% of the Grand Total?

If "top 100" means the top100 rows, In query editor, you can slelect "keep rows->keep top rows".

What does the column of interest calculate, does it calcuate based on other column (is it a calculated column or column from original data source)?

    Best regards
