Creating a right margin footer in Microsoft Power BI Report Builder.

According to the Microsoft documentation, paginated reports provide page headers and footers that run along the top and bottom of each page. These sections can contain static text, images, lines, rectangles, borders, background colors, background images, and expressions, and are commonly used for page numbers, report titles, and other report properties. After you create a page header or footer, it is displayed on each report page.
The documentation also states that you can insert the following report items into a page header or footer:
- Textbox
- Line
- Rectangle
- Image
Additionally, you can use Header Properties or Footer Properties to add borders, background images, or colors, and adjust the width of the header or footer.

If you're trying to place a footer aligned to the right margin in a Power BI report, the best approach depends on the report type.
- For standard Power BI reports, there isn't a true page footer that automatically aligns to the printable page. A common approach is to use a Text Box (or other visual) and align it manually using Format → General → X and Y position so it stays in the desired location on the report canvas.
- For Paginated Reports (Report Builder), you can use the Page Footer section and right-align the text or other items within the footer. This is the recommended approach for print-ready reports and exported PDFs. Microsoft also allows configuring footer properties such as borders and layout in Report Builder.
Could you let us know:
- Are you using Power BI Desktop or Power BI Report Builder (Paginated Reports)?
- Is the footer only needed for on-screen viewing, or for PDF/printed reports as well?
That will help determine the most appropriate solution.

Thank you for the reply.
I am using the Report Builder (Paginated Reports). The problem with the footer is that it always sits at the bottom of the page after the body. Unlike Word documents where you can insert a text box or a picture inside a footer/header and drag it to wherever you want, Paginated Report seems to be limited in this.
The golden line and the page number needs to be visible in PDF as well.
