Create a new table in query editor from existing columns?
I have an existing table that was created in Power BI by importing a massive CSV file. I want to create a new table in the query editor so I can pivot two columns, without altering the original data ...
Hi Anonymous ,
You can do the following:
- Go to Query editor
- Right click on the table that you want to copy and select Reference option as shown:
- Once you select REFERENCE a copy of this table will be created in the Query Editor area.
You can then further use this new table reference to do your transformations.

Duplicate creates a completely independent copy of the query.
Changes in the original query do NOT affect the duplicated one
Reference creates a new query that depends on the original query.
The new query starts from the final result of the original query.
Changes in the original query DO propagate to the referenced query.
