Create a measure that returns the equipment availability, filtered by the analysis period.

I have a dataset named "Availability," where each row represents an instance of an issue that caused equipment to be non-operational, with the following variables:

1: "Equipment": ID of the equipment that stopped functioning.
2. "Start Date/Time": indicates the date and time when the equipment stopped functioning. (datatype Date/time DD/MM/YYYY HH/MM/SS)

3. "End Date/Time": indicates the date and time when the equipment returned to functioning. (datatype Date/time DD/MM/YYYY HH/MM/SS)

I need to create a dashboard where it's possible to select a date range (I have a calendar table, that i tought would be ideal for creating the date range filter), and it returns the equipment availability within that period.

The Relationship between Avaliability and Calendar.

I was thinking of using something like (End Date - Start Date - ∑ issue durations ) / (End Date - Start Date) to calculate availability.

Where:

End Date = The final date of my selected period for analysis.

Start Date = The initial date of my selected period for analysis.

Thank you for your attention, have a great day!

  • Does your data for data for down time typically span multiple days? Example: Equipment stops on Monday at noon, is down all day Tuesday, then returns to working Wednesday at 8 AM?

You may need to get your data into a place were an example like the above generates three rows:

Monday, Down time = 12 hours

Tuesday, Down time = 24 hours

Wednesday, Down time = 8 hours
