Counting Like Responses in Many Choice Columns

I would like to count responses in 17 SharePoint choice columns.  Each of the 17 choice colmns have the same values to choose from, Just named differently.  In the end i want to know how many times "Choice 1" was picked, how many times "Choice 2" was picked and finally how many times "Choice 3" was picked.  I tried to unpivot the data in 'Transform Data' like this post described but I either did it wrong or did not understand what I got.
