Could not authenticate the credentials for Sharepoints

Hello Team,

I have created a dashboard using SharePoint documents as the data source, specifically Excel files stored on SharePoint folders. However, I'm currently facing issues with authenticating my credentials in Power BI Desktop, and the data refresh is also not functioning in Power BI Service.

Everything was working fine until the end of May, but since then, these issues have started occurring. I tried reinstalling the February version of Power BI desktop, but that did not resolve the problem. Please note that I still have access to the SharePoint location. I am authenticating my credentials via Microsoft login.

Could you please assist me in resolving this?

Thank you,
Shivam

Hi @sshivam  - Your dataset might be using Dataflows Gen1 or Datamarts, which no longer support cloud connectors like SharePoint.
Consider converting your Dataflow to Gen2 (in a Fabric workspace) or connecting the dataset directly to SharePoint via Power BI Desktop (PBIX).Check if the SharePoint credentials show an error.Re-authenticate using OAuth2 with organizational account.

Share the error message or screenshot from the Power BI Service refresh log.

Hello @rajendraongole1
Thanks for your last message.  I have tried every possible to reauthenticate my Microsoft ID to PBIX but I am not able to do it. I am getting the same error. I have connected to the dataset directly as a Sharepoint folder. I have tried to convert my data to DataFlow Gen 2 via Fabrics. Can anyone facing the same issue with the Sharepoint Folder? If yes, What is the possible solution for it?

Hi @sshivam , Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community Forum.

This maybe recent changes in how Microsoft handles cloud connectors, especially OAuth flows. Check Power BI Service Status to rule out known outages. Then, update Power BI Desktop to the latest version.

If the issue persists, bypass the SharePoint Folder connector entirely. Instead, connect directly to your Excel file using the Web connector, which avoids the failing auth method. This avoids the connector that's currently broken. Just make sure the Excel file isn't password-protected.

If the above didn’t work for you, then the best next step is to report this issue to Microsoft Power BI Support, as it may be a bug or a backend issue. You can provide them with the error screenshot and all the troubleshooting steps you've already taken, which will help them understand the issue better and provide a resolution.
