So recently, I have an issue with the Power BI Desktop Application. When i try opening the application it directly throws an error.
Below is the Error message:
Could not load file or assembly 'System.Runtime.InteropServices.RuntimeInformation, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' or one of its dependencies. The module was expected to contain an assembly manifest.
When i initally tried checking what the issue was, I thought it was a ASP.NET issue so I tried installing but apparently my system already had it installed. I tried reintalling the app multiple times from the Microsoft store also installed the app using the setup wiz after downloading it from the main website, tried repairing it reseting it but nothing worked, even tried removing some temp and cache folders as well. But the issue remains the same.
Can someone help me out with this issue and how we can get it fixed?

Hi @Flinders ,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community Forum.
This issue refers to a problem with the .NET runtime or a corrupted/missing assembly file that Power BI depends on.
Please try below things to fix the issue.
1. Open Control Panel --> Programs --> Programs and Features. Check for below things and install.
.NET Core Runtime especially 3.1 and 6.0
.NET Framework 4.8 or later
Note: Download the latest versions from the official .NET download page.
2. If the runtime is already installed, try to repair it with the installer Or uninstall and reinstall the runtime.
3. Clear Power BI Cache and Temp Files, Navigate to below path.
C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Power BI Desktop
Note: Delete or rename the AnalysisServicesWorkspaces, Cache and Temp folders.
4. Check your system for System.Runtime.InteropServices.RuntimeInformation.dll. If you find multiple versions, especially outside the .NET folders, remove or rename them temporarily.
5. Run Power BI Desktop as Administrator.
6. Download the Power BI desktop standalone installer from the official Power BI site instead of Microsoft store.
7. Open Event Viewer (eventvwr.msc). Go to Windows Logs --> Application and check for errors related to Power BI or .NET.
I hope this information helps. Please do let us know if you have any further queries.
Regards,
Dinesh
