Hi @powerbiexpert22 ,
No, you don't need to install a separate Git client when using Git integration within Microsoft Fabric - it’s built into the Power BI Service.

Git Integration Options in Power BI (as of 2025):
1. Power BI Desktop + External Git (e.g., GitHub, Azure DevOps)
You can manually version .pbix or .pbip files using Git without any Premium license.
No Premium required - this is a local developer workflow.
Requires saving your Power BI file in the new .pbip format (Power BI Project).
You can use any Git client or Azure DevOps repository.
2. Git Integration in Power BI Service (Fabric Workspace)
This is the native Git integration within Power BI Service (Public Preview as of late 2023, becoming more stable in 2024–2025).
Requirements:
The workspace must be backed by a Fabric capacity (Free SKU does not support Git integration).
You need a Power BI Pro or PPU license (for development and deployment).
Power BI Premium per Capacity (P SKU) is not mandatory, but Fabric-backed workspace is.
