Corrupted pbix File

Hello,

there's a semantic model uploaded it to the service , and refreshed it through XMLA .

today i was opening it from my local pc but it's corrupted .

and i cannot download it from the service  because i refreshed it through external tool ( XMLA ) 

so what i supposed to do to return back my semantic model

    Hi ahmedshalabyy12 ,

    Try below method:

    Rebuild Local File by Scripting from Service

     

    • Open Tabular Editor (2.x or 3.x).

    • Connect to your dataset via XMLA:

      powerbi://api.powerbi.com/v1.0/myorg/YourWorkspaceName
       

    • Select your semantic model, it opens the full data model.

    • File → Save to Folder (creates a folder-based Tabular Model).

    • OR: File → Save As .bim file

      Then:

      • Open Power BI Desktop

      • Create a new file

      • Use External Tools > Tabular Editor to inject the saved model back into a fresh .pbix.

      Hello,

      thank you for your comment , now i have conncted tabular editor with service and saved my semantic mode as a new folder .

      then i opened a new file power bi desktop , opened tabular editor then file >> open from folder 
      it retreive the semantic model inside tabular editor . when i click save i don't find the tables in power bi desktop 

       

      am i doing something wrong ?

        Hi ahmedshalabyy12,

        You have done most of it right so far. Just to explain  when you bring the model back into Power BI using Tabular Editor, it only brings the structure like tables and measures, but not the actual data or the report visuals. That’s why you’re not seeing anything show up in Power BI Desktop.

        First option  open Power BI Desktop and use Get Data > Power BI Datasets to connect to your published model directly from the workspace. That gives you access to the data, and you can start rebuilding your visuals from there.
        Second option  if you still want to use the saved model from Tabular Editor, you will need to manually bring the data back in using Power Query or refresh it using XMLA.

        Also just a heads-up since incremental refresh is turned on, Power BI blocks the download of the original .pbix, which is why that option is not working.

    You need to go ahead from the web, where now you can modify the model, the DAX etc

        I mean to open the report on the web and modify the data model directly on the web to do what you need to do

      Thanks for getting back.yes, that TempSaves folder path you shared is definitely worth checking. If Power BI Desktop closed unexpectedly, it sometimes saves a temporary version of your file there. Just go to that folder and look for the most recent file. if you are lucky, you might find a working copy that you can open directly in Power BI Desktop.

      Since you have already saved your semantic model using Tabular Editor, you are on the right track. Just remember, when you open it in a new Power BI file, it only brings the structure not the actual data. To see the data again, you will need to refresh the model either by using Power BI Service or by reconnecting your data sources in Power BI Desktop.
