Connectivity issues (PBI > Netezza)
Hi ajohnso2 ,
Since Netezza has now deprecated weaker authentication methods such as MD5 and Crypt. If your connection still uses these methods you can change it to SHA256, here is the documentation I found for you hope it helps!
Updating connections for crypto support - IBM Documentation
The 64-bit Power BI Desktop and Power BI Gateway require the use of 64-bit ODBC drivers. 32-bit drivers are not available in 64-bit environments, which means that you have to make sure that you use 64-bit drivers when configuring your data sources.
Solved: 32 Bit ODBC driver with 64 Bit Power BI - Microsoft Fabric Community
Of course, you can't rule out compatibility issues that occur after updating your Power BI client. If you still can't find a solution after trying the previous two steps, I recommend that you downgrade your version of Power BI Desktop in order to ensure that the program runs properly!
I hope my reply can solve your questions, if you have further questions, you can contact me at any time, I will receive your message the first time to reply to you, look forward to your reply!
Hope it helps!

Hi thanks again for your earlier reply, I have looked into this in more detail.
I have confirmed with our database team that MD5 & Crypt are disabled on our netezza environment so this is a non issue, infact there have been no changes to the netezza appliance in recent months.
I have tried disabling all of our firewalls -> no change
I have created a connection to our netezza environment with a DSN odbc connection (using ODBC connector in Power BI) THIS WORKS!!! But the Netezza connector doesn't... make it make sense...
Im quite confident this issue is something introduced in Octobers client update, to confirm it still doesn't work in November release either.
I'm not inclined to accept roll back to September release as a fix.
I would really appreciate someone looking into this as its taken up far too much of my time to date (Will i have to raise this as support?).
