Hi , @HarderT
Thanks for your quick response and sorry for my delay response!
I create a on-premise sql server and install a gateway to test in my side .And i found we can not select a gateway in pipeline now.
As searched , the Self-hosted IR / Data Gateway that's needed for Fabric pipelines to connect to on-prem data sources is not available in yet.

@HarderT were you able to make it work in a Pipeline? I have the same issue in which I can connect in a DataFlow but in the Pipeline I am having connection issues.
Hi @v-yueyunzh-msft,
Thanks for your effort!
Is it foreseeable when it will be possible?
Best regards,
Tim

Hi @v-yueyunzh-msft ,
probably I found the problem.
The Problem is that our SQL Server is an On-Premise Server not a Cloud-Server.
Is that correct?
Best regards,
Tim
Hi , @HarderT
If the sql server in On-Premise, in my understand , you must need to use the gateway to create a data source credential .
You can try to search if the Existing connection has the configuration for your data source.

Hi , @HarderT
Based on my test and research, if you are trying to connect to SQL Server data source in your Power BI data flow gen2 workload in the Fabric platform, it can be achieved and please detailed refer to this step:
You can first go to a Fabric workspace to create a new dataflow gen2 workload:
And you can select the "SQL Server" button to enter your detailed SQL Server detail info and credential to establish the connection to it:
You may also detailed refer to this official document link:

Hi @v-yueyunzh-msft ,
thank you for your response.
I know that I can connect my SQL Server via Dataflow. But I'm wondering why it doesn't work with a pipeline!?
I'm wondering because I have the option to choose a SQL Server for import data.
Best regards,
Tim
Hi, @HarderT
Thanks for your quick response!
According to your description, you want to connect to a sql server in a pipeline.
Sorry for i may misunderstand your need.Do you mean you want to use this feature in Fabric?
I test it in my side when i clcik "Copy data":
We can choose the "Sql Server " as the data source.
Or it means that your dataflow can connect to sqlserver, but the pipeline cannot connect successfully?
If so, you need to check that the SQL Server server name, credentials and gateway you entered are exactly the same.
Thank you for your time and sharing, and thank you for your support and understanding of PowerBI!
