Connection Error with On-Premises Data Gateway

Initially, the On-Premises Data Gateway was installed and running correctly, but it started showing connection errors. After extracting the logs from the program, I found the following error:

I attempted to reinstall the gateway, but now I cannot configure it. The Windows Event Viewer displays the following error for the program:

I reinstalled the gateway and the .NET Framework again, this time using version 4.8 instead of 4.8.1. This seems to have resolved the issue. Thank you!

Before reconfiguring the gateway, first make sure that the previous gateway has been completely uninstalled:

Then re-download the gateway installation file:

During the installation process, make sure that the antivirus software is turned off:

I just recently started to get the error "Watch dog failed to start process" and this was not after any kind of update or reconfigure. Before I attempt an update or to reconfigure, what is the watch dog process? Is it related to the gateway service? When I search for that short version of the error string, "watch dog failed to start process", this particular article is the ONLY result. If I search for "watch dog service", I see suggestions that this is fake anti-malware. Interestingly, this just started happening recently and we are using a rather old version of the On-premises data gateway.
