Connecting to multiple AAS models (live connection) from Power BI desktop

We have a scenario where a user needs to connect to multiple AAS models in PowerBI desktop so that they can build reports combining data from different models. Apparently composite model approach cannot still be used with multiple AAS models using live connections. Is there any other way? Can I create different datasets pointing to different models, publish them and consume multiple such models in Power BI desktop?

Hi @Anonymous ,

As the blog, You are limited to just one data source/database you selected. You can’t combine data from multiple data sources anymore.

Hello @v-frfei-msft,

Thanks! The blog that you pointed to is as of Oct-2016. There is a recent Power BI release that enables using composite sources in Direct Query:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/desktop-composite-models

Yes, the article says in the end that composit emodel does not work for Analysis Serrvices, but it mentions in the context of multidimensional model : "Live Connect (multi-dimensional) sources can't be used with composite models"

So I was hoping that composite model would work for Tabular.

Thank you.
