Connecting to external accounting database

Hi guys!

I'm quite new in Power BI and I'd want to prepare a dashboard based on the accounting data (general ledgers, journal entry).

Our company has differrent accounting providers across many countries with diverse accounting systems. Some of the systems are modern but a there are also some old with just simple actions. What is the easiest way to automatically download data from their accounting systems? I've read some guides but it's still not clear for me.
Could you please help? Would be really greatful!

Direct from database, ODBC, ODATA feed, REST API. Depend what is available

I'm on the step of getting detailed info about all the systems. Do you think if even a really old/simple system should be able to download data in this way? Could there be a problem granting access if the accounting firm is external?
