Connecting to Azure Mysql database form Power BI Desktop

I'm trying to connect to an Azure Mysql server from Power BI Desktop.

I have created a DB user and can connect to the database with mysql workbench with no issues.
However when i try to connect through PowerBI (get data -> Azure -> Azure database) with the same credentials I get this error message.

I have tried upgrading Power BI to the newest versjon and listing my IP in the servers Firewall rules, but nothing resolves the issue.

Have anyone encountered a similar issue?

Hi @Anonymous ,

Based on the information in your screenshot, I found this article.

It says the issue occurs if the application can't connect to the server.

To resolve this issue, try the steps (in the order presented) in the Steps to fix common connection issues section.

Best Regards,

Stephen Tao

I have read through the links you provided and checked my azure database and verified that I have completed every step.

I have listed my IP in the firewall rules as suggested, and I can connect to the database with mysql workbench.
Since I can connect to the database through mysql workbench I assume it is not a firewall issue since PBI desktop should be using the same IP when connecting to the database.

@Anonymous , I think, you are choosing Azure SQL, Try with MySQL as Database
