Connecting power bi to databricks

Hi,

I have connected to databricks with no problem, suddenly when i try to connect now I get this message:

The Databricks ODBC driver is not installed on the host. Please install the appropriate driver.

Do anyone know how i can fix this, i have already tried download odbc driver locally with no help from this page:
https://www.databricks.com/spark/odbc-drivers-download

3 ACCEPTED SOLUTIONS

1. Uninstalled MS PBI through MS Store
2. Installed August 2024 version 2.132.1053.0Download Microsoft Power BI Desktop from Official Microsoft Download Center
Resolved the issue.

I have 2.6.29.1049 Simba Spark OBDC Driver and didn't reinstall any OBDC related drivers. This worked to 3 people including me so far

I think I got it working - I uninstalled PowerBI Desktop and then installed the July version from this link:

Hi @Anonymous

This is a issue, the Engineers are working on this, and if you installed Desktop from Microsoft Store, you may consider re-downloading Desktop from the  website  and installing it before trying to connect to the data source.

Download Microsoft Power BI Desktop from Official Microsoft Download Center

Looks like the issue is fixed now and only affects Power BI Desktop installed from Microsoft Store. I've managed to fix mine by uninstalling Power BI and reinstalling it again. If it doesn't work, in MS Store, click on Library and then Get Updates. This will force update on Power BI.

Confirmed! Running update from the MS store fixed the issue.

Same issue for us.
Reinstalling is not possible (too much users).
Refresh pour premims capacity working but local refresh not working.
For version 132, activation of proxy make connection work
For version 135, can't find an issue to make it work.

We wait update on windows store

Correction confirmed by users (desinstallation + reinstallation from microsoft store correct the issue).

Mine showed August 24 but I also saw that it was updated today. Collegae supposedly was on the same version and didn't have issue. Uninstalled mine and reinstalled the August 24 version and now it's working

I was debugging with my colleague and we found that it doesn't work for him, but for me it works. We are pulling from the same DBX WS.
Me:            Version: 2.134.7447.1 64-bit (October 2024) -> Ok, I can pull the data from DBX
Colleague: Version: 2.132.1053.0 64-bit (August 2024) -> ODBC driver issue!

Same issue with our users from this morning, ticket raised to Microsoft.

Same issue here.  I think it started yesterday afternoon when I published an update with the new version - users started reporting the tables from Databricks weren't populating for them but they were for me. I am using RLS so that might be a contributing factor, or it might be something else that got broken with the update...

Now when I download I get the same issue everyone else has.  My current version is the August 2024 version

2.132.1053.0 64-bit so reverting to that version isn't an option.

Exactly, I also tried reinstalling Power BI Desktop to the August 2024 version 2.132.1053.0 64-bit and installing the ODBC driver, but nothing works, it's still the same error.

I'm also impacted and running the August version. 😕 I tried the Azure Databricks connector in the PBI Dataflows and that one still works. Maybe consider a Dataflow as a bridge workaround for the time being.

Revert to August 2024 version, looks like has something to do with the September 2024 version aside from it showing as October 2024 Version:

Wondering if this is regional.  I am connecting to US Central and have this issue.

Had the same issue, it seems to be related to the Power BI August update. Installing the Power BI Desktop previous version form July the queries work fine again.
