Connecting Power BI Desktop to Oracle Database

We have a requirement to extract data from Oracle on-prem database and generate a report in Power BI. I went through this article: Connect to an Oracle database with Power BI Desktop - Power BI | Microsoft Docs and found yes it is possible to connect Power BI Desktop to an Oracle DB.

How can we transform the data extracted from Oracle DB to be used in Power BI report, does Power BI Desktop helps to purge data? And another requirement is to refresh this Power BI report every 30 minutes, hope this is also possible with Power BI. Do we also need to use on-premise data gateway between Oracle DB and Power BI? Is it mandatory to use on-premise data gateway?

Hi @zakirhc ,

yes, you can transform the data to your liking with the query editor in Power BI Desktop.
To refresh every 30 minutes you need premium licenses (capacitiy or premium per user).
A gateway is mandatory for this use case.
