    So to answer my own question: no there is no option right now. You would need to white list your local IP in the data sources firewall to work using Power BI Desktop.

MathiasMÜ Power BI Desktop doesn't have the option to use a gateway, you have to work with the network so that Power BI desktop can access the data source without the gateway.

thanks for the reply. Could you be a bit more specific how this would look like? As I said the source is in the cloud, to be more specific an Atlas Mongo DB, hosted by Mongo.
