Connect Report Built in Web(service) to New Data Source

I currently have a blank report in a given workspace where I have completed all of my data modeling (ties to a view live databases and a few files in onedrive). I then pushed the data model up to the cloud and users have built a report using these data. One user pulled this file down, added a theme, and then published this report back up to the cloud.

This created a new data source for this report.

Is there a way to change the data source for this report? Ideally I want to connect the report to the previous data model without rebuilding the entire report in the webservice again.

Hi @Anonymous ,

We can just add the new data source for the dataset in Power BI service. Please refer to the online document.

Unfortunately there isn't a solution to this problem. The solution is really to let the sys.admin do the work in desktop and then do whatever you can in the web version. If you pull down a report, make modifications, then push it back any of the security/ access/ gateways will be broken if you don't have access. So no real solution.
