Connect Into Power BI Dataset (Security)

Hello All, today we were analyzing some of the powerBI features we never used and tried tthe option connect into a PBI Dataset.

What we noticed is that RLS is not enforced when connecting into this dataset, so let's say a user can only see Information from his country due to a row level security. If he go into PBI Desktop , choose to connect into the PBI dataset and connect into the data, he can see all countries information.

This seems to happen to users who can access the workspace, even on only Viewer permissions.

My questions is, how and what rules can we create (security in the dataset when publishing into web) to allow the users to either , not be able to connect to the datasource in PBI when they have viewer permissions for the workspace and can we allow them to connect but respecting the RLS and his permissions?

Thank in advance!

Hi @Anonymous

Just give the VIEWER permission to the workspace and READ permission to the dataset,

pls see the document
