Confusion re Power BI Import Storage

Question

Power BI imports data into its own tabular storage. 'The VertiPaq engine: the in-memory columnar database that stores and hosts your model'

But when I look into Power BI security it says that the data and meta data is encrypted in Azure Blob Storage. Is this Azure blob Storage and the in-memory columnar database the same thing? Im a bit confused about the two
